Sunday may well mark the last time the San Diego Chargers play before their home fans. If the team does indeed move to Los Angeles for the 2016 season, the Chargers fans sent them off with love and applause. Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd received standing ovations as they left the field in the waning monents of the Chargers' 30-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. After the game, several players returned to the field to pay tribute to the fans: Philip Rivers has returned to the field to sign autographs and pay homage to fans. Chairman Dean Spanos, whose family has owned the team since 1984, has sought to move the team to Los Angeles, to the extent of breaking off negotiations with San Diego officials this past summer. The Chargers and Raiders are working together to develop a stadium in Carson; meanwhile, Rams owner Stan Kroenke is developing a site in Inglewood. (St. Louis, which may also lose its NFL team, had a similar elegy for its Rams earlier this week .) Under the Spanos regime, the Chargers have had only 12 winning seasons and have missed the playoffs five of the past six years, including 2015.
