According to agent, Chargers are shoving Eric Weddle out the door (Shutdown Corner)

The San Diego Chargers picked safety Eric Weddle with the 37th overall pick in 2007, and Weddle has played exceedingly well for the Chargers, named to the Pro Bowl three times and an Associated Press All-Pro selection twice. Last week, after San Diego played what may have been its final game in the city - it is one of three franchises vying for the opportunity to move to Los Angeles - Weddle was one of three team leaders, along with Philip Rivers and Malcom Floyd as well as head coach Mike McCoy, to spend time circling the field, signing autographs and chatting with fans. After nearly two hours, Weddle laid down on his back at midfield. Though he is in the final year of the five-year, $40 million contract he signed with the team in 2011, Weddle certainly could have re-signed with the only NFL team he's ever known. But now, that seems highly unlikely. Via a tweet from his agent , David Canter, which San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Kevin Acee followed up on , the Chargers fined Weddle $10,000 last week for remaining on the field at halftime of that home finale against the Miami Dolphins to watch his daughter perform as part of a dance ceremony. "Weddle was stunned," Acee wrote. "He was also furious." The player did not tell coaches he planned to stay on the field, and he should have, as Acee notes. Plus But a fine for "conduct detrimental to the team" levied to a player who has been a stalwart member of the defense and organization for being a proud dad is excessive. Plus, the Chargers were up 23-0 at halftime. On Monday, San Diego placed Weddle on injured reserve with a groin injury, against his wishes, and, acording to Canter, told him he couldn't travel with his teammates to Denver for the final game of the season because the plane is too small. As of last week, Weddle hadn't ruled out a return to the organization, but that was before the events of the last several days.
