There is a new chapter of awkwardness with Junior Seau's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After the strange rejection of Sydney Seau, Junior's daughter, not being able to speak in her late father's place at Saturday's induction ceremony (things have been worked out amicably enough now), there comes another difficult sight for San Diego Chargers fans. [ Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football: Sign up and join a league today! ] Seau was displayed at the Hall on a banner with him in a New England Patriots jersey. The HOF banner at Canton features one of the greatest Chargers of all time, Junior Seau, in a Patriots jersey. Ugh http://pic.twitter.com/63hLQYkQX7 — Marty Caswell (@MartyCaswell) August 6, 2015 This has Chargers fans quite upset, as the All Pro linebacker spent his first 13 seasons of his 20-year career in San Diego before finishing with three years with the Miami Dolphins and his final four with the Patriots. Poor Chargers. Seau's glory days were with the Chargers, even if he did play a key role with the 18-1 Patriots in 2007. As the San Diego Union-Tribune's Tom Krasovich points out, Seau's 12 Pro Bowl berths all came with the Chargers, as did each of his six first-team, All-Pro selections, and was inducted into the Chargers' Ring of Honor four months after his death as one of the franchise's most beloved players. As if the Patriots hadn't hurt the Chargers enough. First there was the Chargers' brutal defeat at home in the 2006 playoffs when they looked unbeatable, and that was followed by the Chargers' loss in the AFC championship game — with Seau in a Patriots uniform for both games — in Foxborough. Now this. Granted, Seau is universally recognized first as a Charger, and this too shall pass. But it's a rough reminder for his San Diego fans in what is supposed to be his career-crowning weekend in Canton. - - - - - - - Eric Edholm is a writer for Shutdown Corner on Yahoo Sports.
