49ers activate WR Ellington, sign TE-LS Nelson (The SportsXchange)

The San Francisco 49ers moved wide receiver Bruce Ellington from the active/non-football injury list to the active roster and signed tight end and long snapper Kyle Nelson to a one-year contract on Friday. Ellington was selected by the 49ers in the fourth round of the NFL Draft in May. The 22-year-old played in 38 games in three years at South Carolina and finished his college career with 106 catches for 1,586 yards and 16 touchdowns. Nelson rejoins the 49ers after previous stints with the team during offseason workouts in 2013 and a portion of training camp in 2012.
