So close! Blake Bortles only 3 yards past line of scrimmage on this pass (Shutdown Corner)

This isn't Dan Orlovsky running out of the end zone for a safety, but it's darned close. Quarterback Blake Bortles has had a nice second season and has the Jacksonville Jaguars in playoff contention in a bad division. But this throw he made in the second quarter against the San Diego Chargers is downright ridiculous. (The bad ridiculous, we mean.) Watch as Bortles scrambles parallel to the line of scrimmage and then completely ignore it, running a full three yards past it to deliver a "touchdown pass" to Allen Robinson. Not only was it called back correctly, but the illegal forward pass penalty cost them five yards and forced the Jags to kick a field goal. We're still laughing, Blake. Good on you.  - - - - - - - Eric Edholm is a writer for Shutdown Corner on Yahoo Sports. Have a tip? Email him at edholm@yahoo-inc.com or follow him on Twitter! Follow @Eric_Edholm
