San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said after meeting with Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos that he wants the team to stay in the city for generations to come, but that he will never support a deal that the city can't afford. The one-hour meeting Sunday at the Padres' Petco Park came after a surprise announcement last week that the Chargers and Oakland Raiders are planning a joint stadium in the Los Angeles area if they fail to get stadium deals in their hometowns.
