Chargers agree to deal with CB Brandon Flowers (The Associated Press)

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to a deal with former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers. Flowers was the Chiefs' second-round pick in 2008 and he started 87 of the 88 games he played over six seasons, making 421 tackles, two sacks and 17 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

New developmental league launching in fall (The Associated Press)

A home for players who can't crack the big time to hone their skills for another shot at the NFL. Maybe even a place for collegians not yet eligible for the NFL to grow their games. The Fall Experimental Football League plans to launch in October as a developmental league, with no NFL affiliation but with lots of intriguing ideas. ''Given the current Division I landscape in football and the collective bargaining agreement the NFL has with the union, there is more than ever a need for another platform out there,'' says Brian Woods, the FXFL commissioner.

Hall of Fame coach Chuck Noll dead at 82 (The Associated Press)

Chuck Noll, the Hall of Fame coach who won a record four Super Bowl titles with the Pittsburgh Steelers, died Friday night at his home. Noll transformed the Steelers from a long-standing joke into one of the NFL's pre-eminent powers, becoming the only coach to win four Super Bowls. The Steelers won the four Super Bowls over six seasons (1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979), an unprecedented run that made Pittsburgh one of the NFL's marquee franchises, one that breathed life into a struggling, blue-collar city. ''He was one of the great coaches of the game,'' Steelers owner Dan Rooney once said.

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy seems to always have the Denver Broncos within arm's reach. That's not alluding to his stay as the Broncos' offensive coordinator, a post he held before coming to the Chargers as their head coach before last season. When the Chargers had a sloppy practice during this week's OTAs, McCoy aired out his team and referred to their showing in Denver as proof positive of what happens when attention to detail isn't paid enough attention.

Philip Rivers plays softball in a fake mullet, tall socks and coach's shorts (Shutdown Corner)

You know, there's really nothing like a company softball team. You get to see your work-mates in a different setting, you get to have a few beers, everyone takes a couple cuts and goes home happy. So in that respect, at least, the San Diego Chargers aren't any different from your company. Well, except for the fact that nobody's likely to ask your shortstop for his autograph. A reader of SB Nation's Chargers blog Bolts from the Blue spotted some familiar faces in an opposing team's lineup, centering on none other than Philip Rivers his own bad self. Rivers, the aforementioned shortstop, for some reason is playing in a mullet wig and high socks. But he wasn't alone! Check out Eric Weddle and Danny Woodhead: @BFTB_Chargers Here's a couple of Weddle & Woodhead as well. http://ift.tt/1i9hbG8 — Dani Williams (@DaniKDub) June 5, 2014 Well, this is just spectacular. Spin Doctors: LaDarius Green vs. Jordan Reed (Roto Arcade)

There's little variation at the top of the Yahoo 'expert' tight end ranks. It's Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, Vernon Davis, Gronk and a whole bunch of interesting names. Out of that secondary group, Brandon Funston and Brad Evans believe they know what young, buzzy prospect to shoot for once the big boys fall off the board. Read. Reflect. And declare a winner in the comments section below. [ Get in the game with Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football ] Funbags flashes the Green: Looking for the next Julius Thomas , the next under the radar tight end breakout? Look no further than Ladarius Green, a 6-foot-6 athletic specimen that ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in '12. Last season, he was finally able to showcase his impressive talents, catching nine passes of 22-plus yards - that was more than half his season total of 17 catches. Only six tight ends had more catches at that distance or beyond, and they all ranked in the top 15 at the position in plays from scrimmage. Green ranked a lowly 49th in that category. San Diego Union-Tribune Chargers beat writer, and friend of the Yahoo family, Michael Gehlken recently listed Green as his first choice when asked to name a Chargers offensive breakout player this year. It could be argued he already had a semi-breakout in the second half of '13, as he finished among the top 15 tight ends in fantasy points over his final eight games. But, again, we are talking about a freakish talent that hardly saw the field through the first 11 games of last season, when he averaged just 15 snaps. The light bulb finally went on for the Chargers in Week 13, as Green averaged 40 snaps per game over the final seven games of the year, including two postseason contests. He should finish inside the top 25 at TE in total snaps this season, and with his talent and that kind of workload, I've got bullish top 10 feelings for Green at the TE position.

103.5 The Beat Down 2014

7:30 p.m. June 12 - If Planet Earth had testicles, they'd belong to Kendrick Lamar. Because, proverbially, homie's got the world by the balls. Raised on N.W.A.'s hood-life narratives and influenced by his own upbringing on the very streets that his mentor, Dr. Dre, depicts in his music, Lamar gives a portrayal of pres...

The Drip Effect

8:00 p.m. June 13 - Take a listen to the Drip Effect. It isn't metal, it isn't indie rock, and it doesn't quite care. The band is more focused on creating something important to itself than keeping a consistent sound for the rest of the world. This refreshing approach to music has kept the group busy behind the scenes ...

Second wave of former players join NFL lawsuit (The Associated Press)

Former Pro Bowl defender Marcellus Wiley added his name to a lawsuit accusing NFL teams of illegally dispensing powerful narcotics and other drugs to keep players on the field without regard for their long-term health. Wiley, who played in Buffalo, San Diego, Dallas and Jacksonville from 1997-2006, is the ninth player identified by name, joining former Chicago Bears Jim McMahon, Richard Dent and Keith Van Horne, Jeremy Newberry and others. It contends team physicians and trainers across the NFL routinely - and often illegally - provided powerful narcotics and other controlled substances on game days to mask the pain. He said those drugs were then ''handed out like candy at Halloween'' and often combined in ''cocktails.'' NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league had no comment.

Bengals at crossroads at tight end (The SportsXchange)

CINCINNATI -- In the 2013 offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals focused on the institution of the two-tight end set. Much of the 2014 offseason thus far centered around the absence of two tight ends. Both Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert missed the second week of organized team activities that began Tuesday. Eifert spent much of Tuesday working out on the side while battling a shoulder injury.
